Meet Team - Timothy J. McNamara, DDS

Dr. Timothy McNamara completed his periodontal residency training in 1984 and joined his former, now retired partner, Dr. James Herman, to form Herman/McNamara Periodontics, S. C. Dr. McNamara brought implant dentistry into the periodontal practice shortly afterward. He opened a satellite office in West Bend, WI, in 1985. Over the years, this satellite office has developed into a full time practice.

The Milwaukee city practice of Herman/McNamara Periodontics, S. C., moved and expanded from its location at 66th & Oklahoma to its present Greenfield suburban location at 84th & Forest Home in 1987. In 2006, Dr. Herman retired, and Dr. McNamara renamed the practice Progressive Periodontics and Dental Implants, S. C. to reflect the practice's style and addition of implant dentistry, yet still retain the practice's periodontal focus. The West Bend office was modernized, remodeled and expanded to over twice its original size in 2008.

Dr. McNamara has always held a strong belief in giving back to the patient and dental communities. He participates in Donated Dental Services, a program which provides comprehensive care at no cost to patients that have no other resources. He has taught clinical periodontics to dental students at Marquette University School of Dentistry.

As his Curriculum Vita indicates below, he has been accepted into multiple distinctive professional dental societies. He is a past President of the Wisconsin Dental Association and the Midwest Society of Periodontology. He has been an active member and leader on innumerable committees on the local, state and national level. He has held the office of Editor of the Journal of the Wisconsin Dental Association. As a result of this activity, he placed second in receiving the most distinctive award of the American College of Dentists for his editorial on ethics in personal and professional life. To the benefit of his patients, it was in these activities that Dr. McNamara enhanced his communication skills.
